I was recently hired at the local Burger King by my parent's house. The Burger King is located on Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My position will be as a breakfast cashier. My duties are to put togheter the shake machine, work at the register, and do some janitoral work in between. It was just two days ago I filled out the application. A day later I had my interview. Yesterday, I found out that I got the position that they were hiring for. I will be working the morning shifts. 6:00am to 11:00am or till 2:00pm on days that they are busy.
I used the skills I learned from the interview workshops - at "Move it Forward" Job Club at the Fresh Start Clubhouse of Ann Arbor (on State Street) - in my interview. Two other people I know were able to also land job through the same workshops.
I first learned how to run a cash register at the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is part of a global system of clubhouses for people who have a history of mental illness.
